Surigao Young Business Club

A group of young businessmen and businesswomen coming from second generation business owners and operators, entrepreneurs, under the age of 40.

Goals:

  1. To become a unified voice of the young business professionals of Surigao
  2. To create new businesses while strengthening existing foundations
  3. To bring technology and modern trends to Surigao business
  4. To create trading and financing avenues
  5. To produce expositions and events
  1. To be a vanguard for environmental protection, conservation and management.
  1. To establish links with other organizations, locally and internationally
  2. To become a discussion forum and educate members in business science
  3. To create opportunities for fun, leisure, travel and sports for its members

 

The Club shall function as an independent organization with a legal identity while being affiliated with the Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Surigao Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a sectoral representative.

The Club shall be formally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Club Organizational Structure

The Club shall be headed by an Executive Director (ED) elected among the group who shall preside over different clusters composed of members sharing similar interests and backgrounds. The ED shall be elected by majority through a quorum vote of ½ of current members and shall hold a term of office for one year

The Club shall have five clusters, with appointments to be made by the ED:

    1. Executive Cluster
      1. Tasked for the overall management of the Club and cohesiveness of members
    1. Business-IT Cluster (BIT-C)
      1. Tasked for the Business Management Science and IT education and needs of the Club.
    1. Finance Cluster (FINAC)
      1. Tasked to collect and manage funds and seek sponsorships for activities
    1. Marketing and Socio-Civic Cluster (MARSOC)
      1. Tasked to undertake marketing and promotions of socio-civic including environmental  projects
  • Travel and Living Cluster (TLC)
  • Tasked to schedule travel, culture, sports, health and living activities and the management thereof
 

Club Rules

Meeting Agenda

  1. The Club shall hold a meeting every First Friday of the month at a designated venue.
  2. The first part of the meeting shall be a roll call. Followed by opening remarks of the Executive Director where he or she discusses last meeting’s agenda and developments.
  3. The second part of the meeting is the Affirmation. Each member, in three minutes, shall discuss his business activities, accomplishments and even crisis situations. Applause should be mandatory.
  4. A member may opt to launch a product or discuss a serious investment proposal. This shall be given a maximum time of five (5) minutes.

Other Rules

  1. The Club requires no minimum educational attainment or income/wealth requirement for its members.
  2. The Club accepts both proprietors and working professionals who are dedicated to pursue the rapid yet responsible advancement of business in Surigao.
  3. The Club as an organization shall remain apolitical and shall never issue political statements nor declare favor on any politician.
  4. During meetings, the Club shall not discuss religion, racial issues, politics and other taboo topics.
The Club requires no particular attire during meetings. Only during formal events and group visits shall the members wear their prescribed attire.
Member Rules
  1. Each member shall fully participate in discussions, selflessly educating others towards a better understanding of business management.
  2. Each member shall not take undue advantage of any critical business information divulged by any member.
  3. Each member must be free and prepared to travel with the Club outside of the country at least once a year and travel locally at least twice a year.
  4. Each member shall be responsible for his or her own refreshments during meetings unless otherwise arranged.

Membership Qualification

The members of the chamber may be the following:

  1. Personal – Any person born or living in Surigao of any nationality, regardless of sex, color, creed, or belief who is lawfully engaged in industry, commerce, trade, agriculture, natural resources, finance and insurance, transport and communication, tourism services and other entrepreneurial activity, or is lawfully engaged in the practice of his profession, under the age of 40.
  2. Business Entities – Any business enterprise in Surigao owned or associated with a current member engaged in the purpose of engaging in industry, trade, commerce, agriculture, natural resources, finance and insurance, transport and communication, tourism services and other entrepreneurial activities provided it has been registered with the appropriate governmental agency as single proprietorship, partnership, corporation or cooperative, and is licensed to engage in such activity.
